Bobby
Husky (mix breed)
Urgent: Last Day
Scheduled: January 4, 2026
Reason: Other
Intake Info: Bobby (A2165894) is a 3-year-old dog who was originally owner surrendered when his owner moved to an apartment that did not allow large dogs. His owner described him as a great dog who did well around children. Bobby has a minor bite history from 8/21/24, which occurred after he escaped the home and entered another person?s property. Bobby was later adopted but recently returned after breaking through a gate and escaping again. The adopter lived near a school, and neighbors expressed safety concerns due to his roaming. The adopter noted that Bobby can be standoffish at times and somewhat protective but reported he was good with children. Medical: Bobby was neutered in 2024 and was recently processed under sedation. He is heartworm negative and has previously received treatment for FAS in the shelter environment. Staff Notes: During a recent walk, Bobby initially gave a low growl and husky-like howl when approached in his kennel but relaxed after calm interaction. He allowed loop leashing and walked outside appropriately. His tail was initially tucked but gradually relaxed. He allowed petting on his back and hind end, and leash removal was completed without issue. Behavior Observations: Bobby is head-shy and cautious with touch above the shoulders, often displaying lip licking, stiffening, or brief vocalization during handling. He is otherwise calm, walks very well on leash, and is non-reactive to other dogs both in the kennel and while walking. He has not consistently taken treats but remains cooperative, allowing collaring and leash placement. Bobby presents as reserved and subdued in the shelter environment but shows potential to form strong bonds in a low-stress setting. Volunteer Notes: Volunteers describe Bobby as aloof but manageable. He allows leashing, walks calmly through the kennel, and explores the yard independently. He will sit for treats but often chooses not to eat them. He did not seek attention but showed no handling concerns. He returned to his kennel without issue and appears possibly housebroken. Request to Rescues: Bobby is in urgent need of rescue placement. Due to his bite history and head shyness, caution should be used when handling, particularly around the head and shoulders. He would benefit from an experienced rescue that can provide structure, patience, and professional behavior support if needed. Bobby deserves a safe, low-stress environment with secure containment, as he is skilled at escaping, and a place where he can decompress and build trust at his own pace. With the right placement, he has the potential to become the loyal, stable companion his previous owner described. Animal ID A2165894 Color gray / black Sex neutered male Size large Weight 60 lbs.
