Description The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. She was relaxed with soft eyes and an open mouth pant as the collar was easily clasped around her neck. She remained loose while greeting several dogs through the fence. She confidently entered the yard and approached a group of dogs, exchanging good greetings. She then spent a few minutes exploring and acclimating to the yard, tolerating others sniffing her and trailing alongside her. She became exited and spent a few moments zooming around by herself. She then enticed a male shepherd for play and the two briefly chased around the yard. She then enticed a young female shepherd for play. She was initially gentle with her play but as their play progressed, she became very physical with her. She pawed, jumped on and over and bit at the shepherd's neck. She appeared to become aroused during her play and not know when to stop as the young shepherd became overwhelmed and tried to run away. The handlers stepped in with a shaker bottle to break her focus. She is social and playful but takes her play to a very high, aroused state. Not all dogs may appreciate her energy or physicality.
